Why Location Matters More Than Most Seniors Realize

Most senior sessions happen in parks, downtown streets, or open fields. Those locations can be beautiful, but sometimes the most memorable images come from places with a story behind them.

For this session with Keira and Sophi, we drove from Fort Worth to a property outside Burleson that offered something completely different.

A Location Full of Character

The property features vintage gas station signs collected from around the country, old gas pumps, rustic textures, and open Texas fields. Every corner offered a different backdrop and a different mood.

Instead of moving between multiple locations, we were able to create several completely different looks in one place.

Using Vehicles as Props

One of my favorite elements from the session was incorporating a Ford Lightning pickup into some of the images.

Vehicles can add personality and help create images that feel more authentic to the senior instead of looking like everyone else's portraits.

Ending the Session at Sunset

As the evening progressed, we moved into the tall grass fields surrounding the property.

The fields catch the evening light beautifully, making them ideal for sunset portraits.

To finish the session, Keira and Sophi used sparklers as the sun disappeared and the sky transitioned into twilight, creating some of the most memorable images of the day.

The Takeaway

The best senior photos aren't always about finding the most famous location.

Sometimes they're created by combining great light, a unique environment, and a willingness to try something different.

If you're a member of the Class of 2027 and are starting to think about senior photos, now is a great time to begin planning your session.

Whether you already have a unique location in mind or need help finding one, I'd love to help create senior portraits that reflect your personality and style.
